Interesting setup coming as I near my waypoint on the 30ºW meridian. Over the next few days a low will form basically where Marjorie is now. The low will move off Spain and intensify setting up the westerly flow hinted at a few days earlier. At the same time a high pressure area spread across my path sets up. Early hints are it starts breaking down on the east side as I get to the waypoint clearing a path South for Marjorie.
Despite being 6 days out, the GFS and NOAA 48hr Surface Analysis are consistent with this setup. The good news is it looks like great sailing for a long while. Only downside is I won’t be able to cut South until I get East.
BTW, the blue lines are different routings from different forecasts. The ECMWF shows a jog the the East as the wind shifts to the South earlier. Timing doesn’t matter, we will just tack when the wind shifts South.
Sail on.
