Below 30º North

Nov 5, 2026

A small milestone as I pass below the 30’s & into the 20’s of latitude. Conditions tend to be mellower down here, and that is proving to be the case.

Champagne sailing this morning. Even though close hauled, the seas are smooth with 12 knots. Feels like a magic carpet ride making 7 knots South. All systems working well as I listen to the generator humming along to charge the batteries. Marjorie is really made & setup for this type of journey.

A little shipping traffic here from ships heading in & out the the Med. All of a sudden we intersect around 1 mile apart. So far no one has had to alter course or hail each other. Can’t let you guard down in the North Atlantic.

Getting some reading done. Finished The Mosquito, now working on The Storm Before the Storm. A history of the politics of the Roman Republic and how it fell apart. Parallels to current times are astonishing. Details are different, but the political forces are the same. Good to be in the real, analog world out here.
